What is whitening?Whitening is used to brighten dull or yellowish teeth. It is a safe, effective, and efficient way to dramatically improve the overall appearance. In-office Zoom! Whitening or NiteWhite take-home whitening can lighten your natural tooth color between seven and twelve shades.What is involved?Michael Robinson Dental Group offers both in-office and take-home whitening services.Zoom!® Whitening is an in-office bleaching process that whitens teeth in less than an hour. The procedure begins with a preparation period followed by as little as 45 minutes of bleaching (a cleaning is recommended prior to the actual Zoom! Whitening session.) The Zoom! light-activated whitening gel's active ingredient is Hydrogen Peroxide. As the Hydrogen Peroxide is broken down, oxygen enters enamel and dentin, and bleaches discoloured substances while the structure of the tooth is unchanged. The Zoom! Light aids in activating the hydrogen peroxide and helps it penetrate the surface of the tooth. NiteWhite® is a take-home kit that whitens teeth in nine hours (one hour a day for nine days). The procedure involves taking a mold of the teeth from which custom plastic bleaching trays are created. The patient fills the trays with NiteWhite whitening gel and wears them for an hour each day. NiteWhite may be chosen over Zoom! if you suffer sensitivity or have implants, however, the results are just as dramatic. There are only four whitening products used by dentists that have the ADA seal of acceptance. NiteWhite is one of them. How long does teeth whitening last?The full effect of whitening can last up to 6 months, and with regular "touchups" you can have a bright, white smile for as long as you desire.I'd like to know more.
