Dental Bonding
in Ontario, Canada
What is dental bonding?
Bonding is well suited for minor cosmetic improvement and is an affordable, immediate alternative to porcelain veneers. It is mainly used to lengthen short or chipped teeth, fill in gaps between teeth, or improve some cosmetic defects. Bonding also works well with the brownish or grayish-tinged teeth, which don’t always respond to bleaching.
What is involved with Dental Bonding?
Bonding consists of skillfully applying a plastic resin to the front of the tooth and then removing the shine of the enamel using phosphoric acid. Next, more resin is applied and light is used to harden the resin and smooth out the enamel. Once the bonding is complete, the tooth is polished and treatment is usually complete during one visit.
How long does dental bonding last?
Dental bonding is a conservative alternative to porcelain veneers and is not as strong as your original tooth structure. The life expectancy of bonding depends on your oral health care and the way your teeth come together. The procedure may have to be repeated but with appropriate application and care, it should last many years.
